Lol joking aside I really need to get them sorted. I was booked in just before the lockdown for a test so will book one today I think. As I have a Class 2 licence, Ihave to get a medical every year which includes checks on my sanity; blindness; and prpensity to fall asleep at the wheel. Falling asleep at the TV isn't measured. Last year cost me £150 in medical fees. This year I found a doctor who does DVLA medical tests for £50...so I am now fit to carry on for another year. For as long as I keep the Class 2, it will be annual medicals. Dump the Class 2 and they told me it will be a medical every 3 years as I'd had sleep apnoea 5 years ago, now cured. My father drove until he was 90; no medicals, couldn't see the dashboard, couldn't hear when the gear needed changed up from 2nd (one could hear him coming as the engine in his Punto screamed help); and never realised he was slipping the clutch - on one occasion the clutch gave up and the garage said they couldn't find the clutch p[late...it had vaporized.
And I've to sit medicals !!! Perhaps a jaunt to Barnard castle will help resolve matters!
Unfortunately both my HGV and PSV were/are suspended. I can only get them back if I was to pass my medical which is unlikely. Your dad seems like he enjoyed driving and well done to him for driving for so long. My medical fail is mainly because of the medication I don’t think I’d have any problems driving a PSV but a HGV no chance of that. I would t even be able to climb into the cab 😳
