I’m struggling to keep up with the sequence of events here..... Start again and list in some kind of order........ In post one the OP says the mechanic diagnosed the timing belt etc then lower down says he asked the mechanic to do it..... Makes one hell of a difference ! IE If the op asked for it to done and it wasn’t the problem then that’s his loss... On the other hand IF the mechanic diagnosed all that work and it’s not fixed the fault then the mechanic at the very least is obligated to refund especially IF the car needs a new engine. Somebody has misdiagnosed here that’s pretty clear. He who got it wrong chews a big lemon.

Hi charliefarlie, sorry for any confusion, i asked the mech to change the belt and water pump as he suggested it needed a new oil pump, and it would be silly not to change the belt .So as i didn't know when it was last done, better safe than sorry. After he changed all the things he then said it was easier to put another engine in. i am still none the wiser as to what is wrong with it. again i am sorry for confusion. cannot afford to take it to another mech as stated i am a pensioner. Many thanks for all relies. :TU:
