Hi folks. I'm thinking I need to somehow protect this from scratches when loading- as it's quite a high lip. When I'm loading back packs , the straps etc tend to trail over it. Mitsubishi do their own protection pack thingy , but as ever - it doesn't do the exposed lip ! I've thought about a thin ppf thing on Amazon. But applying on the paintwork , then removing in time to come ?

Get a strip of 3M Ventureshield Jamie. You can buy pieces online to fit yourself or find a local supplier/fitter. It's clear and really tough. Can be removed by careful use of heat when the time comes.

I've had one of these on my RAV since new and would regard it as one of the best investments that I've ever made. It takes longer to clean the bumper than it does to fit the shield. It needs the occassional application of protection/polish to keep it looking reasonable. My RAV is all black so you hardly notice it.

With a piece that size you can do door edges, headlights etc too. I would recommend that you practice on an easy section first - maybe on your Mum's car.

Fit was not good and it just would not stay fixed despite me cleaning the surfaces with IPA and using a heat gun set on warm. Threw it in the bin in the end.

Now come on Charlie! you can't expect it to fit if you have 1/2" of polish on it

Think I'm going to try to cover the panel down to the bumper lip on mine.
Being as this film is clear , I only have whisky for alcohol For cleaning. Or... we recently bought mouthwash for the alcohol content.
Mix with water and spray away...
Bit like when I used to tint the Windows on my old cars.

Well , it's done... Film of protection applied. Took about an hour, plenty of soupy water used.. Not bad I reckon... Just need to remember it's there now. And not try to polish it 😂

Nice job Jamie - you can hardly see the join as Eric would say. Providing it is the genuine 3M Ventureshield you should be able to polish/wax by hand as normal. Obviously more care needed if machine polishing so as not to catch an edge. Just buff along rather than across the edges and remove any remaining polish or wax residue by running a thumbnail along the edge of the film.
