Works now. Thanks, Dave. The sketch on Page 47 looks like the anchors that were in the 5-door. The following page that shows the 3 rear seat belt arrangement is definitely from the 5-door. Maybe the Mike can source a driver seat belt set from a five door and swop it out? |

Wouldn't that need some major work to the internal door frame,i.e. to fit the adjuster mechanism inside the door post? Could be worth a try nevertheless. 👍 |

But is that not just in the 'High' position, can you not grab the D shaped thing, pull it up slightly from the bottom & then slide the whole thing down? Wife is out in ours currently so can't get an image to show you.
Just had a look at ours and yes, you're right, there is no height adjustrment unlike the 5-dr 4.2 where you can adjust up & down by quite an amount.
I never noticed that before but then I've never had a problem with the height of the anchor point.
That belt guide on the other hand is a bloody nuisance as the belt invariably finds its way out of it and then doesn't retract properly when you take it off. It then gets trapped in the bottom of the door opening when you shut the door. I've solved that problem by closing the gap at the back of the guide (where the belt enters) with a strip of Gorilla Tape once the belt is fitted correctly.
Yes, the 'belt guide' or 'storage hook' as some call it is totally useless. The belt has never stayed in mine once after putting the belt in there. It pops out on each use. I also solved it by neatly drilling two small holes for a small zip tie. It does make a small difference when in. Is it actually called a 'storage hook'? What's the point? The postion in or out of the hook is pretty small. Maybe it has some point on the 5 door and they just chucked it in there on the 3 door? |

The RAV 4.3, and other cars I have had, have had relatively flimsy hooks mounted below the shoulder anchor mount to allow the seat belt to be clipped out of the way when not in use. The 'guides' on your three door as shown on your pictures are clearly far more substantial and 'different'. Exactly what they are for and how they should be used I can't say - it's a very long time since I had a car with such a paucity of doors.  |

My own experience says that they help the belt to retract fully and therefore it doesn't get caught in the door aperture as you leave the car and close the door which it tends to do if it comes out of the gadget. The annoying thing is that the belt more often than not will slide out of the helper and therefore defeat its intended purpose. As I've said before a strip of Gorilla tape across the opening that allows the belt into the helper keeps it in place (but make sure that the plastic surface is clean first otherwise the tape will let go eventually).

It’s isn’t in ELR mode is it? To get it out, pull it all the way out until it stops and then let it retract again.
