Where's the best place to take a switched 12V feed for my Sat Nav and Dash cam?
I powered both these on my previous vehicle from an ignition switched feed from the fuse box. I suppose I can do the same on the RAV4. I had a quick look and unlike my Transit connect which had loads of spare fused outlets both under the hood and behing the glove box, the RAV seems to have very few, either in the big box under the hood and the little awkward access box inside.
Where are you guys powering stuff from?

My car I’m feeding it from cigarette lighter ...spliced the wire at the back of the socket . Downside is it can only be used while driving car and not when parked.

This is where I took the feed for my dash cam, one is permanent live and one is ignition live , can’t remember which is which but it was easily determined with a multi meter.. This is the fuse box under the steering column , behind the fold down storage compartment.

I just thought it was a bit tight in there, but not real difficult I suppose. I'l get myself some 'mini' piggybacks, I've only got the bigger size. I guess that settles it. Ta.

That's good because after I piggyback off some fuse I take the feed to a twin 'cigarette lighter' adaptor (the type that plugs into some other cigarette lighter) and then plug the two 'cigarette lighter' type cables into that, if all that makes sense. It's a bit 'heath robinson' and bulky but done neatly to make sure they don't vibrate loose works just fine. But that device cuts all that crap out, just connect the USB cables direct! Ta.
