White tacky residue on drivers window.

PostPosted by Rambler » Sat Aug 19, 2017 5:55 pm

Hi all.
In recent weeks , when I've lowered my drivers door glass - drive my journey and close the glass again.
A white tacky residue has stuck to the outer upper half of the glass !
It is quite visible and covers most of the upper half , I scrape it off with finger nails... but it's still tough to remove.

All I can think of is a sticker on something in the door is so close to the glass , it's touching and leaving it's Mark
:(
The window weather strip is clean.
Any ideas please.

Sounds like the mastic sealer used to attach the polythene vapour barrier often found between the door card and inner door pressing. Has anyone had the door card off for any reason to your knowledge Jamie?

I was just wondering if someone had previously been in there and used a white mastic to re-seal Kev.

Not to my knowledge David.

If it happens again shortly I'll take a piccy, I polish the glass when I clean the Rav ( probably not to Charlie's standard ).

But it's shiny enough for me :s_cool

All the windows get the same, Autoglm inside & out.
But this appears only on my door glass.

Lower window and Slide a credit card or something similar between glass and seal, then pull it out and see if this substance/residue attaches to the card.
