Sensor wire come with a quility set of new pads or can be bought by themselves if needed .

So.....had Hoovie been an eejit, took the tester at his word, and put the VW in to have these advisories attended to at a garage,,,,,like, say Kwik Pish.......

They would obviously have informed him brakes are fine sir.....no need to line our coffers......

Aye, right......even withoot input of people on here who have forgottened more than I will ever learn, there is bliddy hee-haw wrong with those brakes, so why report as such.....? :N

Because they looked different at the time of inspection ?? If as Hoovie said the van had been stood for some time and the discs had rusted over, that would have been removed with time, so that when he took the pictures there was no indication of rust??

it is one of the annoying aspects of the MOT test as it is dictated ... the Tester is not allowed to move/touch/wipe anything to confirm or otherwise his findings.
So some things get reported when they didn't need to be, and other things do not get reported or failed on - or even tested - when they should be as the tester has no access to them (which can allow an unscrupulous owner to prevent some things being tested which would overwise be a fail).

I had this discussion with the garage that redid the MOT on the Swift, which the council had failed (2nd MOT passed with ZERO work being carried out). Apart from the discs that were failed incorrectly, they also reported corroded brake lines and when the garage checked them, a swipe with some wet&dry removed the surface rust. Those went from an advisory to not being mentioned (which was very honest of the garage as I had had the car booked in for replacement pipes as a consequence of the first MOT)
