Good point from davem......they seemed to have STUCK ON, very well, a stainless sleeve over the rusting exhaust 4 years ago, THEN they welded stainless to stainless......bliddy broke anyway, very cleanly........both raw edges of tube there to see with NO sign of weld........strange, mins..... :shok:

There is certainly a second cat on my 2005 4.2 as I had to buy a new system a couple of years ago. Total cost of new system was app £700, unfortunately there's a sensor in front of the underfloor cat.

Aye Nick.....Cat1 is on doonpipe immediately it exits exhaust manifold.....Cat 2 is just under floor after exhaust joins to manifold doonpipe.

Well, mins.......I am like a dug with two willies.....as Hoovie would say.......I wouldah said a male canine with dual appendages personally........

Exhaust all fixeded........severely corroded pipe from EXIT side of UNDERFLOOR catamalyser was removed and replaced all the way back to the TTE Rear silencer in Stainless Steel........all for £84.00 fgs........mageek.....!!

He explained that he did NOT want to break into the balljoint type flange coupling doodah that holds exhaust between manifold downpipe and ENTRY side of Cat.......a breakage there would cost begamucks. It was much heavier gauge than the exit side I observed, so in much better nick after its ferteen years life. So......old catalyser reused with branny exhaust.....I may now be approached for advice on all things exhaustive, mins.......
