Got my T5 back. A rather pricey repair at over £2k!!

Camshaft replaced. Out of the 10 cams, 2 or 3 were seriously worn on the lobes and some others were going the same way :( apparently this is a bit of a known fault with the camshaft and there is a revised version with much harder cams which is the version fitted now.
I asked them how come I noticed a fault so suddenly - like a switch turned on, rather than a gradual deterioration? The engineers showed me the cam followers, some which were ok, others which had rounded and significant wear, and one specific one which had a hole worn into it. They said that probably eventually wore away so thin that the hole appeared and that was the time the fault became apparent.

I'll post some photos of the shaft and bits and pieces tomorrow if anyone is interested? (I have kept the parts partly out of interest and also to prove an expensive bit of work really was done for any potential buyers in the future)

The VAT doesn't help for a start  (over £400 straight away!)
I needed the vehicle done and had very little choice who could do it.
Some of the costs were mad! Stretch bolts at over £8 each :shok: camshaft was £600 on its own :(
