No torque at low rpm

PostPosted by Mikis » Fri Aug 26, 2016 2:39 pm

Dear friends

I have a 2006 T180 and as you know the torque starts at 900rpm.It has been a while that the torque starts suddenly(violently) at 2100rpm. Up until 2100rpm is really numb.
This has happened twice already and I have cured it by cleaning the Egr valve. I have done the same now with no good result.... Still dead from 900 to 2100rpm.
Is it over?
We have done together 210000km
I have also the Lindon chip.

Can you help me

Ive always had petrol engines in my cars, this is my first diesel. It's taken a while to get used to the turbo lag, especially from a standing start. Now I listen out for the feint whistle of the turbo and make sure it stays spinning .

Make a steel blanking plate for that pipe between the EGR and the cylinder head. Or you can buy one off eBay.

I'm trying to convince myself and the mechanic (Mr T) to block the Egr. One thing that was stopping me was the plate which NOW I discover there is on eBay and the other is that here they can clean the Egr for 20euros.I clean it once a year so it's o.k. Now it's sparkling clean (I saw it) and the car still sleepy from 900rpm to 2000. Can I do something else?

Thank you anyway.

It is blocked

Now the warning lights have come on .
I have seen on youtube that they can go away by disconnecting the battery for a while .

Yes, they do sometimes come on. It should settle down but has it cured the pulling problem?

Now for the bad news. You might struggle with the light on a DCAT but persevere in cancelling that light. Make sure your code reader will cancel codes as well as read them.

Hallo Don , hallo friends

It has been now more than 5000km with the egr blocked.
Still warning lights are coming with safety mode some times. More when driving in the town and less when in the highway or maybe not at all.
The car runs like new. Maybe better.
I think now though, the fifth injector comes in effect (white smoke/burning smell) more often ,especially on uphills . My town is an uphill and a downhill ( Kastoria ) .
The consumption i think also has gone up.

Someone told me that the warning lights will never stop and that I should make an one cm hole in the middle of the steel plate like this one.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LEXUS-IS-MULT ... SwMNxXXUnf
On this way i will be able to fool the Egr sensors ????
