Forum Guide to Symbols and Styles

Symbols

Here is a little bit of a Guide to the meaning of some of the Symbols in use in the forum.

For full information on the icon symbols, goto:
  • here for Prosilver;
  • here for SubSilver; and
  • here for Artodia

The following is a summary of some ... I will first go over the ones in the default - Prosilver - Style:

At the Top Level, you see this kind of thing ....
Image

  • If the Round Symbol is in RED, then that means there are Unread Topics inside that forum section. If the Symbol is in Black, that means there are no new posts since last time you checked in there.
  • If there is a smaller circle inside the large circle, that means there are sub-sections inside that forum section.

So above, we see in Off-Topic Tittle-Tattle, there are no further sections lower down, but there are posts I have not read.
In Hobbies and Past Times, Sub-sections present as well as unread posts, and so on .....

Now going down to an actual posting area ...
Image
Bit more variety to go through here ....
  • As before, RED means new posts inside that Topic Thread, Blue means no unread Posts.
  • The 'Lightbulb' Shape means the post is a 'Sticky' (this is done by the admin team - if anyone thinks a post would be good as a sticky and so stay around the top permanently, just PM me or one of the Mod team)
  • The little Red * means that YOU have posted in that thread (not necessarily started the post, but have contributed in it)
  • The Blue Arrow means the original post has been moved elsewhere, and this is just a Shadow
  • The Padlock Symbol means the post has been locked and no further posts can be made in it (in this particular section and examples, because a question was raised, answered, and so no further discussion is needed)
  • If only thing in the circle are the lines, it means you have not contributed to the post, it is open, not moved and not a sticky
  • When there is a little orange square next to the Topic Name (like by 'Forum Wish Lists') it is a short-cut to the first unread post in that Thread, which can be a handy time saver on long and busy topics.

A Quick Comparison with another Style I will introduce to you ... Artodia Deluxe.

At the top level, this is the kind of view you will see:
Image
  • The ORANGE Symbol (circled in Red) means topics present and Unread
  • The Blue Symbol (circled in Blue) means no unread topics in that section

And at the Topic Posting Area as before:

I won't go through each symbol here - simply compare this screenshot to the previous one from Prosilver of the identical area to work out the meanings!

Styles

A Limitation with our forum is that the style you chose to use is used whenever you log in, no matter what device you are using, from a Smartphone with a Resolution of around 300px wide through to a Wide Screen with a res of 1980Px or greater.

I mentioned Artodia Deluxe... This is a Style that is available in the RAV4 Drivers Club now and is an adaptive style that should work well on a Smartphone, as well as on other devices with larger screens, so for users who wish to use Smartphones extensively, Artodia may be a good option to trial.
HOWEVER PLEASE NOTE: Prosilver is, and will remain, our default Screen Style, and any configuration changes and updates will have to bear this in mind.

To try Artodia Deluxe, this is how:

Goto the Control Panel
Image
(note, I am using Artodia Style in these screenshots to make it clearer how to revert back to Prosilver)
and in the Overview list, select Board Preferences.

Go down to 'My Board Style' and select the required Style, then click Submit.
This will then update your screen style after a few sections and this chosen style will be permanent until you choose another one by following the same routine.

The Editing of a post is a little different in Artodia - the options don't seem to be available until you put your mouse over the post window, then some options come up, like this (circled in red):

They will appear on a PC when moused-over. On a SmartPhone, they will be there permanently.

Any Questions, ask away! :s_thumbsup

That means it is a "hot" topic, with 24 or more replies :s_smile
