Changing Forum Styles from your Control Panel

PostPosted by Hoovie » Mon Dec 16, 2013 2:58 pm

The Default Style for the RAV4 Drivers Club is called "prosilver" and I think it is pretty sweet :s_yes

You may fancy trying a different one though? We have three other options available currently: "Saphic","prosilver Special Edition" and "subsilver2"

To try these out, here is a quick how-to....

Click on 'User Control Panel' (UCP) in the menu near the top right (in prosilver):

This brings up your own Control Panel - click on the 3rd Tab, called "Board preferences"

and you get a selection page called "Edit Global Preferences". The option you want now is 'My board style:

Click the down arrow and you will see the available choices.

We'll select "Subsilver 2" for this example ....

click submit and a few seconds later you will an alternative display style come up.

note for future reference that with this style, the UCP is now on the right hand side

to go back to the standard style, simply follow the same procedure and select "prosilver" again :thumbsup

NOTE: "prosilver" is the default setting and the one we primarily support on the RAV4 Drivers Club. If you decide to use an alternative style and have questions about how to do something, remember to say what style you are using, as the menus and options are different between them :s_scratchhead

Have Fun! :s_howdy

Paul, there are masses of options on styles, just like there are masses of mods out there for phpbb forums. The catch is that they all change the way the forum works more then you may expect (it is not just an appearance thing), and many are known to have issues.
So I looked at all the options and selected a small number which I tested first to check all was ok (as far as I could tell)

Saphic looks a nice one and I *think* it could also be a good choice if browsing on a phone as well (still not a mobile-optimised scheme, but we don't have one of those available as yet)

Please feed back your comments on Saphic once you've been using it for a while :thumbsup

Yes i was getting notifications via PM but my inbox was saying 0 when i logged in,whereas when i came onto the site which was showing quicksilver until i logged in,i had my PMs showing on the QS but not in the Saphic,if that makes sense :s_no
Probably summat my end.

The PM system take a little getting used to. I think it may be just a quirk you are seeing? for example, When you send a PM, it is in the outbox and stays in there until the recipient reads it, so on the face of it, it looks like the PM has not been sent. It only goes into the Sent box once it is read.
Ideally, there could be an OUTBOX for PMs not yet sent, SENT for ones gone and not read, and a READ for when it is read .... but we don't have that :s_laughat
