http://www.migweb.co.uk/forums/ is for performance vauxhalls and http://www.astra-mk2.com/forum/forum.php is for , well I'm sure you can guess. I sold my GTE 16V on there last year. I was amazed at the interest.

I had a mark 2 Astra in my youth, many happy memories there! I alway wanted a GTE, but being just a nipper I had to settle for the 1.3L

Would that be the GTE from around 1984? In white with the white alloys and tartan trim? I always fancied one of those as was a real vauxhall fan in my 20's (and still want an Opel Mante GT/E :driving )

Bought a Mk 1 GTE new in white in 1984. 3 months later it needed reshelling after an accident that wasn't my fault whilst spectating on a rally in Wales. Then p/xed it for a Mk 2 GTE 16V in 1989 (white again). God that thing was quick at the time. Saw 135 mph on the digital display quite legally on a german autobahn(2 lanes in each direction). SHMBO in the passenger seat wasn't impressed I recall.
Couple of mates had a Manta GTE in white.

We had a MK2 GTE 16v in 1989 ( Bordeaux Red ? ) :s_yes

Also, took it up to 136mph, and it was still pulling ! ( and not telling where...,) then bottled it..

The digital dash was really good, and it did look fantastic with the big spoiler on the back...

Great car... shame we had to sell it. :s_sad
