The Kia is well admired in the caravaner's circuits. Are you looking at auto or manual? There are some noted issues with the clutch of the sister firm (Hyundai ), and also comments about their warranty (7 years, but not the same as Toyota). Also, there were some comments in the past of different trim levels (especially suspention) towing capabilities. Just check.
Toyota anyway does not have any suitable offering at the moment.

Good luck what ever way you choose! (Fix or replace)

I've just looked at the CX5's and they look like a good Rav alternative. Unfortunately, when a new improved one comes out, they will be top price and being a retired person, I'm looking for the best possible deal. I'm talking to salesmen now and the Kia Sorento is still looking favourite. Having said all that, I did a full valet job on the rav today and I come from the generation when I had to clean my old man's car inside and out in order to get pocket money, so I'm good at it. We then went out for a drink and meal and I thought, "why the **** do I want to sell this?" A test drive could make my mind up and I'm fairly resistant to sales bull****, so who knows?

Definitely a manual for me if I do get one. Giving it a few days cooling off over Easter. Thanks everyone for helpful comments.

I had a test drive booked for Monday 24/4 and from what I've heard about the Kia, I,m pretty sure I would have signed on the dotted line. However, a bit of uncertainty with my house sale and other matters, too boring to mention, have given me the excuse to cancel the test drive and hang fire for a while. Being honest, I'm still itching for a change, but I spent just short of 500 quid to correct a bit of body damage (mainly to facilitate a sale), but the Rav is looking good again. I have to correct a few more blemishes and chips to the bodywork. I've been reading all the good advice in the bodywork forum, so I'm going to have a play with some clay for the first time ever, then a coat of Collinite. After five weeks in France, I shall make a decision. I'm a bit relieved really because despite it's shortcomings for towing etc, the Rav is still such a good motor and do I really need to spend 30 grand - thinking of having a play on the stock market instead with one of those ISAs that allows you to deal in shares.

Looks quite useful. Seats appear very comfy and supportive but what a gloomy interior overall.

They had a new Kodiaq on display at our local Dobbies garden centre last weekend. Had a look and was
rather shocked to see that all the plastic chrome trim around the windows had gone all that mottled
discoloured way. WTF ?? It was brand new :s_scratchhead

I will be watching that one in due course. The 1.6 petrol automatic would probably suit us but aim to keep the CRV for at least another year and the Jazz to me is probably like the iQ to Charlie :s_thumbsup
