Hi I had some good news and bad news today, Mechanically the car passed its CT (French MOT), unfortunately the paperwork didn't, it is a UK car and I imported it and re-registered it 2 years ago, the French CT is every two years, so this is the first time I have put it through one since the re-registration (the previous was while is was still UK registered).
During the test they discovered that the French Carte Gris (Equivalent to the V5 registration document) was wrong, field "E" that should contain the VIN number didn't and it contained a duplicate of the previous field, I have checked a copy of the original V5 and the Certificate of Conformity from Toyota and all is correct so it must have been a admin cock-up when they issued the Carte Gris and I didn't notice.
Anyway I now have 2 months to sort it out, I could do it myself online, but the local Renault dealer is very good and provides a service for re-registering vehicles and he can explain better than I can what has happened, so for 30€ I have decided that it is probably the simpler option.
It could have been embarrassing if I had had an accident.

At last i received my corrected registration document and went down to ct (mot) center Saturday morning, he couldn't issue me with a new ct certificate, as under the new regulations any return visit for any reason even paperwork requires a new vehicle inspection to be done and he didn't have time on Saturday. So I have it booked in this morning, fingers crossed nothing new has cropped up in the meantime. At least a retest is only 15€ |

I am happy that the car passed its retest without any problems, I am unhappy because as it was a change in vin number (even though it was an administrative error) the ct center was obliged under the new regulations to make a full not partial retest, at the cost of 40€ as apposed to 15€ for a partial test. Tempted to write a letter demanding my money back from the vehicle registration authorities as it was their error, but maybe life is too short, but at least the sun is shining☀️😊 |
